The Four of Them

The hills of Zion
Poured loftiness into me,
and the valleys
depth,

From an eagle
flying in the sky
like an orphan
I learned
loneliness.

And from the sycamore,
whose branches
are lopped off
and only her trunk sends forth
roots
I sucked
rootedness.

Thus the images
of these four
are engraved
upon me.
